Child Protection Policy (CPP)
The REGARD project provides training on Samudaripen, Roma Resistance and Culture in which teenagers (15-18 years old) attending secondary schools are involved. Teens also participate in the survey on knowledge of the above topics and can be present at cultural events open to the public.
Therefore, it is necessary to adopt the following guidelines for children safeguarding to which partners must comply.
The CPP of each partner must be in line with the International Child Safeguarding Standards. According to this relevant document and the rules adopted by the European Commission, the partners have the responsibility to make sure that:
- Their staff, operations and programmes do no harm to the children,
- Do not expose children to the risk of harm and abuse,
- Any concerns about children’s safety are reported to the appropriate authorities.
Harmful child protection behavior is defined as all actions, words and expressions, body movements and postures, which may endanger the well-being of children, such as violence, bullying and hate speech. Images and videos must also not portray harmful scenes.
All partners must ensure protection from these and other risks, safeguarding the integrity and anonymity of adolescents participating in project activities. In this specific case of REGARD project, the training with adolescents is conducted at the schools during school hours. The school certifies participation by indicating the classes participating in the training. Likewise, the school administers an anonymous questionnaire to students for the research purposes of the project. Children taking part to the cultural events will be free to join without selection, but they will be required to be under family supervision at the entrance.
Each partner must ensure clear procedures for reporting to authorities any events harmful to children during project activities carried out in their country.
All partners must adopt the CPP according to the rules of the European Commission stipulated in the document “Keeping Safe Child Safeguarding Standards” and must include or ensure:
- Definitions of risks that may affect children in the specific context of the organisation activities and its mission,
- Clear information about what behaviours are not acceptable when working with children,
- Description of safe recruitment procedures (including criminal background checks for employees, volunteers and trainees),
- Information about data protection procedures,
- Information about training of staff on child safeguarding and child protection policies,
- Information about how often the documents will be revised,
- Indication of who will act as a child protection officer/reporting authority,
- Information about reporting procedures, incl. forms and clear instructions who should be informed and when,
- Clear indication about referral and child protection systems outside the organisation,
- Information about a complaint mechanism,
- Indication about approval and signature by the Director/Legal representative of the organisation. All the CPPs are available at the following addresses:
